Life

Life has been crazy busy lately - hence, no posts. =( I apologize.

I worked a lot. Which is really good. I really do love working, and the extra money is a good thing. I am scheduled for more work, plus I am dog sitting for some neighbors, which is also wonderful.

Working at Root is a lot harder than it looks. Lots of hours standing, some physical labor, plus having to be friendly and happy all the time. But I think I do a good job. I will be working Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday of this week, and hopefully some the week after.

There was this lady that came in and wanted some votives. She didn't want them to burn black, which I told her ours didn't. Then she wanted to make sure the candles would smell like they did once she burned them. I kept reassuring her that they did, but I don't think she believed me. I am pretty sure she is from either New York or New Jersey, based on her accent. She kept calling me 'hun' or 'girlie'. It was really funny.

This past weekend, Kelsey, Lindsay, Lynnee, and I went down to State College to visit our friend Nadia who is doing research down there. It was so much fun. After we got there late Friday night, we just hung out and caught up with Nadia. We all crashed - sleeping on a hard floor is not so fun, fyi.

On Saturday we had breakfast at the Waffle Shop. Really good food - I really enjoyed it. I had a waffle - surprisingly, nobody else did. I thought it was ironic. After breakfast, we walked around campus, and I was able to see where my classes were held, which was really a great thing! The campus is so beautiful - I cannot wait till I get to go there! Since it was a hot, sunny day, we decided to go to the pool. We had such a fun time goofing off in the crisp cool water. Since Penn State has a diving team, they had the really cool diving platforms. Most people jumping off were just jumping, doing nothing cool. But then this really scrawny guy in a Speedo got up there. He did a really cool tucked somersault that spun about 4 times. It was really cool. After the pool (hey, that rhymed!) we went out for ice-cream. Penn State has the best ice-cream I have ever had! I had cookies and cream, Kelsey and Lindsay had Arboretum Breeze, Nadia had Peanut Butter Cup, and Lynnee had Death by Chocolate. All were amazing! After we got back from the Creamery, Lynnee and I got some movies from the HUB and we just hung out the rest of the night, after eating dinner at Olive Garden of course.

Sunday was a little slower, we had breakfast at Irving's, then did a little shopping. We took pictures at the Lion Shrine, then we went back to the Creamery so I could get some ice-cream to take home. Yum-o!

Another piece of exciting news - my roommate e-mailed me! Her name is Dominique, but everyone calls her Nika. We are living in Simmons, which is a Scheryer Honors College dorm. Hopefully it is nice. Once I get to know her a little bit more, I will fill ya'll in with the details! Till then!

=)

  1. Oh, my gosh! You found out your housing! It came earlier than you thought! Is it a good location? Is it what you expected? How does Nika sound? Hopefully this year you'll have a good roommate experience. PSU was fun, indeed. And yes, that dude was AWESOME. Everyone else failed compared to him. And if I had gone off that diving board, you would have heard this everlasting scream.

I was wondering, what is a votive?

  2. A votive is a candle that burns for 20 hours. It is generally a one inch diameter top tapering to a three fourths inch diameter bottom over the course of about three inches high.
